4. Church Foundation

Many people today profess that true church was constructed by human. Jesus said "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). It´s very obvious that God has his church, and He is the one who built it. He said to Peter "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." Jesus has his church which has a foundation. This church referred by Jesus was built on the rock which is the foundation. The scripture clarify that true church was constructed by Jesus. In Ephesians 2:19-22 Paul uses an illustration to describe the blessings we have in the church. In the context, he has referred to the church as a household or nation (v19). Now he refers to it as a temple (v21). Which to all believers they are also being built together for a dwelling place of God in Spirit (v22) see also (1 Cor. 6:19-20) He describes the foundation of this temple as the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus being the chief cornerstone. This is like 1 Peter 2:4-8 and Psalm 118:22 where Jesus is also said to be the chief cornerstone. Likewise, 1 Corinthians 3:11 says there can be no foundation other than Jesus Christ (cf. Matthew 16:18 where Jesus - not Peter - is the stone on which the church is built). The passage makes clear that Jesus Himself is the chief cornerstone or the foundation of His church. For further understanding we can comprehend that Jesus is the Foundation.
In Colossians 1:15-18, Paul demonstrate that Jesus is the Head of the church which is His Body. (See also Colossians 1:24). If Jesus is the head of the church then we can clearly understand that Jesus himself is the foundation of his church. Do you know the reason why Jesus himself is the foundation of church? Simply it´s because Jesus is the only way of salvation (John 14:6). We can acquire salvation through the grace of God which is in Jesus. There´s no other name who can save humanity but only Jesus (Acts 4:10-12). Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, neither slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all (Colossians 3:11). For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time (1 Timothy 2:5-6). (See also 1 John 2:1). As Jesus is the Head of Church, we ought to follow Him whatever he says unto us. We must follow his steps by obeying his commandments. We need him in order to attain salvation.
Being the head of church, Jesus is the Founder of the church and Savior of the believers – which accept Him as their personal savior. To those who believe Him as their Savior, they are now part of His church. If we are a member of the true church which Jesus is the Head, then we need to accept that He is God. Many religious group today claim that Jesus is only human. They reason out that Jesus was born through Mary which they believe that Jesus is only human not God. If you are claiming that Jesus is the head of church then admit that He is God. If you acknowledge that he´s human, in that case you believed a false Christ (Matthew 24:24) Many passage on scriptures declared that Jesus is God (Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-3, 14, 17-18; John 10:30; John 20:28; Romans 9:5; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:6-8; 1 John 5:20).
As a member of God's church we have a role. We must acknowledge him as our God. We need to follow Him having the status of being our God, Savior, Redeemer, Intercessor, Mediator and the head of church. Permit Him in your hearth and allow Him as your teacher. If He bids "remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy" then we must observe the Sabbath day as His custom (Exodus 2:8; Luke 4:16). If he bid as "Follow me and keep my commandments" (John 14:15), then we must respond by obedience. We learned that genuine church is the church which founded by Jesus, not by human. And He himself is the head of this church which is his body. He is the foundation because, there´s no other name that God gave to us in order to attain salvation.
Who is the foundation of your church?

The answer is yours alone.
